Ingredients
1 C white sugar
1/2 C light corn syrup
1/4 tsp salt
1/4 C water
1 C peanuts (salted cocktail peanuts work great)
2 Tbsp butter softened
1 tsp baking soda
Directions
- Grease a 9×13 cookie sheet
- In a heavy 2 quart saucepan, bring sugar, corn syrup, salt and water to a boil over medium high heat.
- Once sugar is dissolved, add the peanuts.
- Set a candy thermometer in the pan, taking care not to touch the bottom of the pan. Continue cooking until temperature reached 300 degrees F (150 degrees C)* on the candy thermometer.
- Remove from heat, and quickly stir in the butter and baking soda.
- Immediately pour into prepared pan, and using 2 forks “pull”the mixture to spread on the cookie sheet.
- Let cool for 1/2 hour; use a metal spatula to remove from pan and break into pieces.
- Enjoy!
Notes
- * Note: Make sure the temperature of the mixture gets to 300 degrees F or it will not harden properly which would be a total bummer!
