A saucy cranberry recipe delicious as a side dish, with extra syrup to use for desserts or drinks!

Ingredients

  • 1 C water

  • 1 C sugar

  • 1 cinnamon stick

  • 1 split vanilla bean (or just add 1 1/2 tsp vanilla)

  • 2 C fresh cranberries

  • 1/2 C brandy

Directions

  • Put water, sugar, cinnamon stick and vanilla in a saucepan; bring to a boil.
  • Add cranberries and cook ~3 minutes until the cranberries pop.
  • Remove from heat and add the brandy; set aside to cool.
  • Once cooled, strain out the cranberries from the syrup. You will have ~1 1/2 C of cooked cranberries and ~ 1 1/2 C of cranberry syrup. Keep refrigerated.

Notes
